When Jorianne "The Coffee Psychic" says that the future is in coffee, she’s not talking about financial investment opportunities. In a traditional Hispanic variation of the time-honored practice of tea-leaf reading, Jorianne The Coffee Psychic is a practitioner of a unique brand of divination – coffee reading.
“I do psychic readings using a cup of coffee as a crystal ball, seeing images in the steam, cream and bubbles,” says Jorianne. “I see letters, numbers, body parts, faces, images, – the elements of the coffee form pictures – like a video or motion picture; always moving, always changing. Images come up for interpretation, then flows back down into the coffee and as more cream is added, more pictures resurface for additional information”.
Jorianne’s co-hosts on “Your Psychic Connection” are Joe Skare and Bill Barker. Both are long-time radio personalities who ended up doing a morning show together in Lincoln, Nebraska. That’s how they first met Jorianne in the mid 1990’s. At the urging of another radio host who had worked with Jorianne, they invited her to be on their show for an hour one morning to take phone calls and do readings. While both were “skeptical” of psychics in general, they decided it would interesting to have some fun with the topic. The three hit it off on the air immediately as Joe and Bill were first impressed with Jorianne’s sense of humor surrounding her abilities. While they relentlessly jumped into Jorianne’s readings to inject their “humor,” she patiently laughed along and continued. Along the way, Joe & Bill began to notice that she was connecting with the callers on some very specific points. The hour flew by and Jorianne’s visits became a monthly staple of their show for many years. By mixing Jorianne’s uncanny psychic abilities with Joe & Bill’s irreverent approach, her appearances became one of the show’s most popular features. So popular, that the three eventually decided the interest could easily sustain a weekly one-hour show. That decision hatched “Sunday Night Psychic,” which aired weekly for over a year and drew incredible ratings to what is typically a terrible night for radio listening. Unfortunately, a “change of direction” at the station Joe & Bill worked for resulted in Joe moving on to a different station and Bill leaving radio altogether to start his own business. Joe was born and raised in a suburb of Minneapolis, Minnesota. His radio career brought him to Lincoln, Nebraska in the early-1980’s. Joe is married with two children and he currently hosts a morning show at a radio station in Lincoln.
Bill was born and raised near Cleveland, Ohio and his radio career also brought him to Lincoln in the mid-1980’s. He is the single father of two daughters and owns an eBay drop store in Lincoln.
